Sun International at the Top of its Game According to SA’s Youthon June 7, 2010
The Sunday Times Generation Next study revealed that Sun International is the coolest hotel group and Sun City is the coolest fun destination in South Africa. This is the fourth year in a row that Sun City has earned this distinction which solidifies its status as the Kingdom of Pleasure in the country.
‘Generation Next’ is the largest youth brand preference study ever conducted in South Africa. It allows marketers and their advertising agencies a chance to understand what attracts SA’s youth to certain brands. The youth (8-22 years) make up more than 50% of the entire population and it was estimated in 2009 that that their spend was close to R90-billion per annum.
Sun International’s hotels, resorts and casinos offer visitors a comprehensive variety of lifestyle choices ranging from; safari and wildlife experiences, to hotels set among mythical civilizations, cosmopolitan cities and silent deserts. Our properties include some of the world’s most sophisticated casinos in South Africa’s major cities, golf resorts designed by the world’s leading course architects, and adventure destinations deep in the African wilderness. We differentiate our luxury hotels and resorts in terms of the local environment, heritage considerations, the tourist experience, and mix of activities and entertainment.
“It is this diversity in our product mix that we believe has strengthened our marketability and charisma, helping us to capture the imagination of SA’s youth,” says Andrew Coudounaris, Marketing Manager Sun City Resort.
Sun City Resort
Sun City achieves such a high rating because of key influences like diverse entertainment, specific teen and children related facilities and exciting adventure activities. Young people feel welcome, they receive good service and their desires are met. In their opinion Sun City is an exciting place and it caters especially for them, because of Kamp Kwena and Club Chirp, Valley of Waves, Pilanesberg National Park and The Outdoor Activity Centre.
Located within The Lost City, is the magical Valley of Waves water park. The man-made beach is always packed to capacity with sun worshipers enjoying the year round balmy sunny weather. It is by far one of the most advanced water parks in the world and houses a 6 500m2 wave pool with a palm fringed beach.
And for kids there is Kamp Kwena – a total universe of mini-golf, animals, swimming, outings, nature walks, bumper boats, cruises, wildlife game drives, sandcastle building, magic performances, races, mini Olympics, sporting fun, and loads more.
The Pilanesberg National Park adjacent to Sun City is a huge draw card, attracting families to this malaria free area and Big 5 territory. There are also additional attractions and family orientated activities available including hot air ballooning, elephant safaris, and game drives.
Sun City is a haven of youth culture – there’s tubing, swimming, volleyball and Club Chirp parties; a dance club especially for teens.
“It is totally understandable that with our array of entertainment and specialised activities, is why we have been voted the best fun place in the country”, says Coudounaris, “we’ll keep evolving and innovating, ensuring the continued support of all South African young people.”
