Sun City CSI and World’s Strongest Manon October 11, 2010
Sun International in association with IMG hosted the MET-Rx World’s Strongest Man Finals at the Sun City Resort in September. Sun City lived up to its reputation for fun in the sun as the resort was transformed into a battle ground for these titans of power. A softer side of these athletes was also shown as some children from The Early Learning Centres came through to Sun City for the day.
Brian Shaw and Derek Poundstone, both contestants from the USA, met up with the children at the Valley of Waves before the teachers from the centre and 42 children and their parents got the opportunity to watch these gentle giants vie for the title of “World’s Strongest Man”.
The children that met up with the Athletes were from the Thari ya Rona Early Childhood Development in Silwerkraans. The Early Learning Centres are all within a 50km radius and include Mmapelo and Mmakodisang which are both situated in Ledig Village. Each centre has a capacity for 100 toddlers between the ages of 2 and 5. Sun City Resort has been actively involved in the construction of classrooms, ablutions and administration at the centres and was excited to give the teachers, children and parents the opportunity to spend a day at the Resort.
