This DJ is so passionate about his job that he once broadcast for 126 hours and 15 minutes, in an attempt to set a South African broadcasting record! Rob Vember launched his radio career at Heart 104.9 in Cape Town before moving up to Johannesburg to join 5FM. Elma Smit is the bombshell who kickstarts your weekend mornings. She boasts an impressive CV, which includes being voted one of FHM’s “Sexiest Women in the World” for 2009, as well as currently hosting the weekend morning show on 5FM and presenting Studio 1 on MK (the music channel on DSTV). Anele Mdoda hosts the fun, irreverent, humourous and very interactive show with Grant Nash at lunchtime on 5FM. Before being snapped up by 5FM, she started off her radio career on TUKS FM, then moved on to co-host an evening slot on 94.7 Highveld Stereo. She continues to stir up the airwaves, not only on radio but also TV. Anele’s partner on the 5FM lunchtime show, Grant Nash, is equally as outspoken as she is. This dynamic team first joined forces at TUKS radio and then moved on to 94.7 Highveld Stereo before joining 5FM. From humble beginnings in Thabazimbi, Limpopo Province, this former Miss Gauteng, dreamt about becoming the next hottest commercial DJ. Margie Viljoen, aka “Spinderella”, moved to Johannesburg to complete her studies, where she also participated in a number of beauty pageants. To add to an already fantastic lineup of DJs, is Gavin “Vin” Deysel. He is a remixer, DJ, radio presenter, music complier and radio audio producer/Sound Engineer! He presents the show “94 hits in a row” on 94.7 Highveld Stereo and 94.7 KFM. This hot shot has worked with the electro/hip hop duo Locnville and has just mixed the new “Ministry of Sound 2010”. 5FM’s Italian stallion, Sasha Martinengo, is a veteran on the waves. He joined the station in 1994 and continues to push boundaries. He has an obvious passion for music and sport, and presents Formula 1 on SuperSport.
