One of the biggest Swedish pop music duo’s from the late 1980’s are back yet again! The iconic band will be performing live at the Sun City Resort on 14 and 15 May 2011. After taking to the stage together again in 2009 for the first time in 8 years, Roxette will officially return to South Africa as part of their World Tour in 2011. The infamous duo has newfound enthusiasm for live performance after 6 of their most recent concerts sold out. Considering that prior to this their last world tour took place between 1994 and 1995, we’d like to say that they still know how to entertain the crowds and we are so proud to be hosting them at the Sun City Superbowl.
The band’s big break came in the late 80s, with a song called “The Look” from the album “Look Sharp.” Since then Roxette has ruled singles and album charts all over the world, staying on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for an unbelievable 4 year period in the 90’s. With massive hits like “It Must Have Been Love”, “Listen to Your Heart”, “How Do You Do”, “JoyRide” and many more, Roxette have sold 70 million albums.
“If you’d asked me a couple of years ago if there would ever be a new Roxette tour I would have very quickly said ‘No!’” says singer, guitarist and songwriter Per Gessle. “Knowing what Marie (Fredriksson, lead vocalist) had to go through in recovering from her severe illness, this is not only unbelievable, it seems almost magical to me. It will be wonderful to meet all our audience on Planet Earth again.”
Marie Fredriksson and Per Gessle are returning to the world stage and this is one comeback that is definitely worth “Sleeping in your Car” to get tickets for. Make sure that you book accommodation and tickets to see this legendary duo live at the Sun City Superbowl.
