Introducing Electric Elma Smit!


Elma Smit is the bombshell who kickstarts your weekend mornings on 5FM. Along with hosting the 4-7am weekend morning show on 5FM, she is a live TV presenter, freelance writer, and model.

While still at high school, she launched her radio career in her hometown of Paarl where she was a presenter on the community radio station, RadioKC. She went on to study a Law Degree at the University of Stellenbosch. In 2007, while studying at Stellies she hosted a daily radio show on MFM 92.6, the campus radio, had a weekly residency at one the hot nightclubs and was MC for a number of events in the town. In 2007 she was co-host of MKLive for 3 months, which streamed simultaneously on campus radio station across South Africa. Before moving up to Gauteng, Elma modelled for a number of European clients, was a freelance distributor, researcher and monthly column writer for a wine magazine, Fynproe. Talk about the complete package!

In 2008 she landed a job in Johannesburg with South African youth music channel, MK, to host the popular weekly flagship show Studio1, which is on Thursdays at 7:30pm. She has also MC’ed at a host of MK-sponsored gigs, which include Oppikoppi, MK Kaktus Sessies, The Ataris Live in 2009 and various Old Mutual Encounter concerts. She has also been a celebrity judge on MK’s band search reality show, Rockspaaider. This lucky lady has also interviewed a number of international musicians, even Brandon Flowers, the lead singer of the Killers, when the banded performed in South Africa last year.

As if this is not an impressive enough CV, in 2009 she was voted number 43 on FHM’sSexiest Women in the World” for 2009 by FHM readers and was number 59 on Heat’s Hot 100 list.
