Introducing Awesome Anele!
This larger-than-life personality launched her radio career on TUKS FM as a DJ. From a young age, Anele knew she was meant to be on radio and used to tape radio shows, not just for the music. She soon discovered that she was not meant for a conventional 9 to 5 job after waitressing at Steers for all of a day! While at TUKS, she studied Politics and International Business. It was here that she met Nash and so began their successful on-air partnership. After TUKS, she moved on to co-host an evening slot on 94.7 Highveld Stereo with Nash. The pair hosted a weekday evening show for a year before they were poached by 5FM to take over the timeslot of the F&Martinengo show.
Anele continues to stir up the airwaves, not only on radio but also TV. She earned herself a spot as one of the celebrity contestants on SABC 2’s 5th season of Strictly Come Dancing. Anele and her professional dance partner, Brandon Eilers, made it through to the 9th week of the reality dance competition before being voted off. She recently presented the inaugural season of SA’s Got Talent with radio personality, Rob van Vuuren. This reality competition was based on the British “Got Talent” format and aired at the end of 2009.
So you may have heard this fierce babe on radio but did you know her most prized gadget is her Vivienne Tam netbook. She has always wanted a notebook that was ‘diva-ish’. Hmm… maybe something to do with her idol, Beyonce? She believes that this ‘sexy’ little ‘beast’ looks like a clutch bag but works like a machine and was definitely made for her. Anele, I think it was made for every woman!
Avid Grant and Anele fans will know that every Tuesday on the show the pair tries to break a World Record. Anele has set the new World Record for the fastest time to rap Kanye West’s verse in “American Boy” – 26.66 seconds!
For all those Anele fans out there, here is a piece of advice from the lady herself; Life is as tough as it is, be yourself! Radio legend Alex Jay must agree because he rated her as “the hottest thing on local radio!” Interestingly, she advises a cup of green tea as the best cure for a hangover! Really?
This larger-than life lady who steams up the airwaves with her sassy, outgoing personality will be hitting the decks at Springbreak so be sure to catch her! Book your Springbreak ticket now!
